My daughter (7) keeps getting touched inappropriately at school, school brushing it off (Washington)
On a near daily basis, my daughter (age 7) is getting groped by a boy at school. She says he typically does it when the class is lining up and when the teacher is not looking, or at recess. So far he has touched her butt, her chest, and proclaimed "we should have sex."
We talked with the teacher, who said she would "keep an eye on things" to try and eliminate the opportunity for it to occur. This has not helped. We escalated to the principal, who was kind but essentially said it was up to my daughter to cause a scene and yell and scream to bring attention to the issue whenever it happens to try and deter it, but my daughter does not want to do this because she finds the situation embarrassing and doesn't want the attention. Not to mention, it's not actually addressing the issue.
The principal said that they "have a plan in place, but the plan will only work if all parties are on board." The read between the lines comment was: "the boy's parents are not taking the issue seriously." The principal immediately knew who the boy was, and in talking with other parents at least one other girl in the class is having a similar issue of unwanted touching.
We are really fed up that the situation is allowed to keep occurring and that our daughter does not feel safe. It shouldn't be up to my daughter to "cause a scene" when it happens. What obligation (if any) does the school have to try and correct this issue?

AITA for not believing my girlfriend's 'discomfort' during sex?
Pretty much says it in the title; whenever I initiate sex with my gf she winces in pain and says it's uncomfortable. Yet whenever she is up for it there seems to be no pain issue at all.
Last night we were fooling around and I got her to orgasm through foreplay - zero issues or pain. I was pretty into it and initiated sex and instantly she was uncomfortable, despite me slowing down the pace. Finally after one thrust she yelled out in pain pretty much directly in my face which was the final straw for me. This has been happening for so long now yet she never does anything about it and tbh I doubt there is any pain - and if there is then she seems to be exaggerating it way out of proportion. I know that people will say no vagina, no opinion; but I know for a fact that I wasn't being forceful or rough so to downright scream in my face was totally unnecessary.
She has no other symptoms or discomfort aside from this, and like I said if she initiates then miraculously there's no problem. It's not a lube thing either, trust me I've tried that too.
I guess the reason I'm asking is because last night we kinda had a big fight about it. I lost my cool and told her how huge a turn off it is to see her face screwed up in pain all the time, and how I didnt think the pain was as bad as she was making out. I told her that sex was becoming really boring and I could pretty much predict how it would go each time. I also said the only solution at this point was just to not have sex. She called me an asshole and went on the offensive. Said I have two moves and yet I expect her to be like a 'porn star'.
So am I the asshole? Or should there be more give and take in this scenario? Can I insist she gets a medical check?
TL;DR: girlfriend is in apparent pain any time I want to have sex, but is fine when she's the initiator. AITA for calling her out on it?

In Hoi4, Tannu-Tuva is more industrialized than the United States.
Tannu-Tuva has 2 factories in 1936 and has a total population of 0.09 million people, The United States has 160 factories in 1936 and has a total population of 123.21 million people. Doing some quick math Tannu-Tuva is more industrialized than the United States. TT: 2 / 0.09 = 22.22 industrial rating | US: 160 / 123.21 = 1.29 industrial rating. Tannu-Tuva is almost 20 times more industrialized than the United States.

If you hired a woman because she’s a woman, that’s sexism and you’re part of the problem.
I experienced the flip side of this. I got laid off. One person in my group was going to get canned (only 3 of us) and they chose me. My manager later confessed they were going to cut the woman because she simply wasn’t doing a good job. For example, would be caught spending most of her time surfing the web. However, they cut me instead because she commonly complained about “workplace discrimination” and they were afraid she would take some sort of action. I did the best I could at my job. I have a family that I need to take care of. In the end, I was laid off because of my gender.
Edit: Gold? Sweet! Wasn’t expecting that.
Also there are a lot of people reacting to this post by taking it out on women. That wasn’t the point. I have worked with a lot of women who are great at their job. Heck no doubt there are a lot of women out there who could do the job better than I could. The point is sometimes we see people fight workplace discrimination with workplace discrimination.

Neighbor insisted I schedule my condo remodel around her child’s sleep schedule.
To start I would like to say I totally understand where this woman is coming from and I feel kinda bad, but in the end she turns out be a racist nut.
I’ve been living in and remodeling a 2nd and 3rd floor townhouse / condo for little over a year now. I had a neighbor below me on the first floor who was great. He would come over to check out my progress and even helped me put up some light fixtures. He was unemployed so unfortunately had to sell his condo.
The woman that moved in is a single mother, early 30s. I’ve had a few very pleasant conversations with her and welcomed her to the building. She’s new in town, her parents helped her buy the condo after she had the baby. The baby’s father is a deadbeat who she would rather not have in the child’s life. I explained I am in the middle of a kitchen remodel so there might be some loud noise between 10am and 4pm but I will try to get the construction crew to keep it down. She seemed fine with this until about 3 days later.
She comes up to me as I’m checking the mail and asks if it’s possible to delay the remodel until her child started daycare, which was months away. I apologize and say that I have a non-functioning kitchen now and only need about one or two more weeks to complete it. We traded cell numbers so I can warn her before construction would start and keep her up to date on the remodel. Next day I text her at 9:45am apologizing and saying construction will start at 10. This conversation happened on a work phone that I don’t have anymore, but from my recollection she responds:
Her: “Oh no, I just put (child) down for a nap, can you delay until 12pm?”
Me: “I’m so sorry, the construction guys are here and on the clock, I’ll have them delay until 11 but that’s the latest I can do.”
Her: “I saw them walking up to your place, they’re Mexican, right? You must not be paying them too much so please delay until 12. Thanks!”
Taken aback by this blatant racism, I respond: “I’m sorry again, but I really need to get things going. I’m not sure of their nationality but I can assure you they’re being paid appropriately.”
Her: “I don’t understand why you just won’t think about me and my child. You’re not a parent so I can’t expect you understand what it’s like with a screaming 1 year old, but you’re being very rude right now!”
Me: “I was nice enough to agree to pay my workers for an hour of doing nothing to give your child some time to sleep, but I can’t have them work completely around your schedule.”
Her: “Fine! We’ll see how you like my surround sound at midnight!”
To keep it light hearted I say “I love movies, but my bedroom is on the third floor so I think that would be a bigger issue for (her neighbors name) who shares a wall with you.”
She starts to unleash and send a barrage of message but the gist was “Honestly I had no idea I had a neighbor from hell! You’re a self centered prick and I hope those Mexicans keep over charging you!”
I ignore her messages after that, but still continue my construction at 11am instead of 10am for the remainder of the renovation. Only once did I get another message from her somewhere along the lines of “Great, you woke my daughter up, prick!” I still smile and wave at her when I see her outside the building, she usually gives me the finger.
TL/DR: new downstairs neighbor insists I schedule my renovation around her child’s sleep schedule. I oblige to a certain degree, but put my foot down when her demands get too crazy. Also, racism.

Job title and duties changed after I accepted position
About a week ago i accepted a new position through a staffng agency. When i agreed to the position it was "mechanical engineer" and i would be reporting to the COO. My duties were pretty typical for an entry level to midlevel engineer. During my interview the GM came to speak to me about where he sees the company going and how he wants to innovate their stagnant product. However, it was never said that i would be heading that entire push. So my first day the GM is gone and the COO tells me i would be reporting directly to the GM. Ok thats strange but no big deal. Well yesterday i get called into the weekly sales meeting and the GM introduces me as Innovations engineer. Ok wtf thats not my title. He tells everyone that im single handedly spear heading a massive project from scratch. That im "unofficially a product manager". After the meeting he lays out a completely different list of duties than previously agreed upon. Which tbh id love to do. But my pay doesnt reflect that at all. I feel like im nearly 40% underpaid as just ME. Id love some solutions here.
EDIT Relevant information:
6 month contract to hire with a staffing agency. In my paperwork and emails from the staffing agency post and pre interview my title is Mechanical Engineer with relevant ME duties. I have 4 years of engineering experience and 18 months of project estimating experience. I would say Im 5-10% underpaid @ 67k/yr according to the Austin market. I know I impressed the GM in my interview but according to my recruiter, my role and duties were not amended after the interview. So I accepted the position @ the 67k not thinking much of it. They are scrapping an old product line and want me to completely revamp it using market research and etc. I know its a great opportunity, but if you guys have taught me anything its never expect loyalty from an employer. So they are essentially getting the work of a Product manager for below the price of a ME and could not even bring me on board at the end of 6 months.
EDIT EDIT
Im 28 and not married.
Update- I spoke with my recruiter about the situation. I asked her to send me the job description she has on file. My GM has came into my office twice today to assure me how great of an opportunity this is. Like he is trying to sell me on it. They already booked me for an out of town trip for a convention which kind of makes me feel like they are trying to invest in me. I am seriously on the fence about this.

[Discussion] Why do we still crop and dock (cutting off ears and tails) dogs in 2018 like it is the most normal thing to do?
I know this discussion is probably going to hurt my karma as people will get very defensive but I am really curious as to why folks are still doing it in 2018 like it is the most normal thing? Even the American kennel club is still supporting cropping and docking. The American Veterinarian Association as well as all of the rescue organization have taken a clear stance AGAINST it, calling it unnecessary pain inflicted on the pets for simply looks. There are medically necessary instances of cropping and docking and some working breeds that are actually working and not home pets so I am not talking about that and those instances are not discouraged by the vet association. We are talking about docking/cropping simply because people like the looks or do it for shows.
We have a doberman and she has her ears and tail and people stop or cross the street to take pictures of her. Out of 1000 people 999 tell us how happy they are we left her all natural and how much happier, friendlier, and prettier she looks. The vet told us that we avoided several possible health issues by not cropping and docking and that the dog is socially more balanced as she can communicate with her tail and ears with other dogs. You see pictures of her here: https://twitter.com/ValleyAllNatual (feel free to post your dog pics on there to show them off) :D
So I hope that this might give some folks food for thought to NOT crop or dock and leave their dogs natural. Just tell your breeder this is how you want your dog and your are paying for it so you should have the last word.
Also, the veterinarian association stated that there is no harm but only benefits in keeping tails and ears and that the myth of the dog breaking their tails if they are not docked is simply that--a myth. The Vet Association reports less than 0.1% annual incidents of tail injuries in their practices.
So why, in 2018, are we still cutting off a dog's primary part of his/her communication for looks? I personally agree with my vet ant the veterinary association and find it rather cruel to do it simply for looks. Of course most other civilized nations are ahead of us again and have long banned cropping and docking of dogs and cats calling is cruel and painful.
I am not calling people who have dogs with cropped ears and docked tails heartless abusers. I am sure people are not aware of the damage it does to an animal and the pain it inflicts during their puppyhood. But it might be time to have an open mind and look into the arguments of the vet association and factor that in for future furry babies that are breeds where cropping and docking is common.
PLEASE READ this for the facts: https://www.avma.org/KB/Resources/FAQs/Pages/Frequently-asked-questions-about-canine-tail-docking.aspx
p.s. when we told breeders that we would like to keep our dog all natural most yelled at us and called us hippies. Maybe 2 out of 10 breeders were ok with it. Those 2 stated they are not obsessed with showing the dogs at competitions and actually prefer leaving it on. This is our first not adopted pet as we needed a puppy for our older cats as we wanted to avoid issues such as chasing cats/seeing them as prey. It was the right decision and they get along just fine

Team/Hockey Parents: We're not babysitters. Why are sports parent/kids groups the absolute worst?
Work at a casual to fine dinning place. Usually bar and cocktail side which is pretty spacious but mostly high tops and brings a more personal atmosphere.
Hockey tournaments in town, and though there are many places better accommodating and more geared towards family in close proximity, we're closest to the hotel and highway.
So we have a pretty good gourmet brunch. Get to work for an open and oh good, a hockey group with about 14 adults and 10 of their little hockey brats are walking in as soon as the hostess unlocks the door at 9:59. But they need bar side as the dinning room has been fully reserved as it usually is. Not ideal, but let's get the parents and monsters in and out.
So immediately they start moving tables and putting different leveled tables together and do the whole parents bunch together and throw the kids at the other end to do what they please. Now if they were good smart hockey parents, (few are) they would go over with the kid what they're having and have it somewhat organized on their end (allergies, what they can drink ect).
Nope, they do the stupid 'Jersey Number' bullshit. If you don't know, the jersey number bullshit system can work sure, but never does. See, if they are smart and organized and their little brats are actually wearing the jerseys and numbers at least decently visible the no problem. Then it's simply "I'll be having the California Benedict, my kid is on my bill, number 17 over there. "
Well these idiots weren't wearing their jerseys. It's cold they were in regular street gear and a few of them were wearing clothes like NHL jackets that had different numbers then their jerseys!?
So when I finally have to get every kids separate order. I'm getting yelled at with numbers "I'm 17, I'm the goalie, I'm 21 I play this, 13, 67" .....I don't care. I keep them organized enough to keep things streamlined and smooth.
I'm not explaining to everyone of them what comes with what as far as the 7 breakfast and kid options plus the dozens of adults sizes and options, plus regular menu. Some of them ordered adult size, whatever, they are ordering burgers and full drinks, appetizers, you name it. You want Pepsi for breakfast or a third refill of chocolate milk with the adult burger?? Sure 12, parents don't seem to care.
So I kept the bills separate and organized in a regular ' I know how to do my job' kind of way instead of the 'suduko Jersey auction' bullshit way. When payment comes, goes smoothly enough, some parents still giving me 'Oh, I'm with jersey 9' shit. "Thanks!" I tell them thinking 'well using the miracle of sight I saw you and your hockey bitch wife talking to the kid in the red jacket with no number on it and paired you up...". I'm not going to ask every kid their Jersey number, kids lie and are dumb and plus some kids are brothers and sisters who don't have numbers. And kids are dumb.
A parent or two were a little surprised when they got bills that had adult sized meals on there. We aren't a cheap place and if their kids were ordering full chocolate milk with adult burgers they were paying full steam and that adds up, paired with the parents meals and a few drinks and they're expecting $59 or so but getting $90 bills.
I wasn't about to go back and forth asking if each little prick could have a regular sized meal - hell everyone was sat with different menus after they moved all the tables and settings around.
So when I got the "That's a lot, didn't known number 21 ordered the full salmon dinner" I smile and say "Yeah sure has a healthy appetite. Really seemed to enjoy the herb reduction. "
Like most team family groups, the tips weren't great. Got them the hell out and got some flips of good couples, small groups and the kind of clientele I want serve. Floors were a mess, crayons and emptied s&p shakers but they were gone!
Oh, and special fuck you to the idiot parent who tells me his kids Jersey number is 8, but he's wearing a Sidney Crosby 87 jersey. Can't you see how that's confusing in the slightest?
Team/hockey parents, can you keep your kids slightly organized and be somewhat smart, maybe at least go over some menu guidelines with them and the server if you do care. No server ever gets excited to serve family sports groups. Most of us hate you. You did this. Ironic given that if your kids acted this way in the organized tournaments you slagged four hours in a bus for they'd be disqualified and you'd maybe assume some responsibly
EDIT: Wow, didn't expect people apologizing on TeamParents behalf. Appreciate the kind words, and hey as mentioned I'm a server what do I expect? I don't hate kids or parents and on the other side of the coin I would compliment families on good manners and high fives are given for a proper please and thank you.
It's a servers forum on reddit. If you were a teacher and had a bad day where a kid ate the class gerbil and called him a little prick on r/talesfromyourteacher I wouldn't say "You're a bad teacher" or "You must hate kids.". But I would say please don't bring the class to my restaurant on my shift.

The notion of a President being able to radically reinterpret an Amendment (14th OR 2nd) via executive order should scare the hell out of gun rights advocates.
EDIT: Well this blew up, so here's another important message. Many of you reading this and nodding along might well feel like neither party really works for you, or maybe you hear "neither party" and want to yell at me "there's more than two parties idiot, I'M a Libertarian/Green/Constitutionalist". Well, there's more than two parties, but there is a two party system, and it exists mostly because we have "choose one" voting (also known as plurality or First Past the Post) and it's really REALLY broken. It only actually selects an accurate winner if only two people are (serious) contenders, because if one of those two people were replaced by two similar people, voters who liked the one would be split between the two, and the other one could win with 36% of the vote, not very democratic eh? There are several solutions, but the one I think is most promising is called STAR Voting, you can read all about it at www.equal.vote . It gives excellent flexibility and responsiveness to the honest will of the people, and it allows candidates to run without spoiling the election for similar candidates. That means partisan primaries matter less, and voters get to hear from a broader range of ideologies before giving their honest opinion about all of them, and the winner is the one who has the deepest AND broadest support, the one who will create the greatest total happiness/least total unhappiness at the result among everyone who voted. It's a brilliant system, but it needs more awareness, so if you like it, spread the word, tell your friends, tell your enemies, call your representatives, make signs and bring them to protests and rallies. This won't reform come from party bosses, or corporate overlords, it will come from the grass roots on every side of every aisle, rising up to demand fairer, freer elections that don't boil down to "the lesser of two evils". We are complicated people with complicated opinions (like being pretty far left but skeptical of full on socialism and actually thinking gun control is kinda pointless at this point and by the way gender is totally on a spectrum.... just for example....) and we shouldn't be forced to just select a single candidate to "vote" for, largely because the only OTHER plausible winner is much worse. That's a bad way to vote, and a bad way to live. Let's make this movement happen. Oh and check out r/endFPTP if you want to get really into the weeds about vote reform.

Oakland warehouse fire: pair to face trial after judge rejected plea deal
Judge said Derick Almena, one of two men charged in the Ghost Ship blaze, failed to show enough remorse for deadly fire
The two men charged with involuntary manslaughter over a warehouse blaze that killed three dozen partygoers will face trial in Oakland early next year, their lawyers said Monday.
Derick Almena, 48, and Max Harris, 28, each pleaded no contest to 36 charges of involuntary manslaughter before a judge vetoed a plea deal worked out with prosecutors. Judge James Cramer rejected the deal after he ruled that Almena hadn’t shown sufficient remorse during a two-day sentencing hearing.

Donald Trump will travel to Pittsburgh on Tuesday to mourn victims of the synagogue massacre, the White House press secretary has announced at a rare and acrimonious official briefing.
But the announcement came shortly after the mayor of Pittsburgh, Bill Peduto, had called on the president not to visit so soon. Funerals for the victims of Saturday’s mass shooting begin on Tuesday.

Lawsuit accuses Trump of misleading investors with get-rich-quick schemes

Donald Trump was on Monday accused in a lawsuit of misleading vulnerable investors who lost money in a multi-level marketing company he endorsed in speeches and on his reality TV show The Celebrity Apprentice.
One plaintiff was a hospice worker in California who was persuaded to spend thousands upfront to join a telemarketing company that Trump promoted as a lucrative opportunity – and yet she allegedly only ever made $38 from her work with that company.

Donald Trump's rhetoric has stoked antisemitism and hatred, experts warn
The president’s tone has come under scrutiny after the Pittsburgh massacre of 11 Jews and ‘does not discourage people from acting out their terrifying views’
Donald Trump has fuelled a climate of hatred in general and antisemitism in particular, with the Republican party acting as his enabler, experts warned on Monday.
The US president’s tone has been under renewed scrutiny after Saturday’s massacre of 11 worshippers at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, believed to be the deadliest attack on Jewish people in American history.

Rightwing terror stalks America. Will Trump do anything to stop it? | Walter Shapiro
The sad undeniable truth is that the US faces a grave challenge from homegrown terrorism that has nothing to do with Isis or al-Qaida
Four of the Saturday worshippers brutally murdered at the Tree of Life synagogue had been old enough during the Holocaust and the second world war to revere America as a safe haven in a world of hate. The other seven victims, the youngest of whom was 54, had grown up in a land where most blatant antisemitism had seemingly retreated to the shadows.
When pipe bombs were mailed to a dozen targets of Donald Trump’s wrath, the only frail consolation had been that no one had been injured. Now with the worst incident of antisemitic violence in American history all comfort has vanished.

Merkel’s exit will leave a gaping hole in centrist politics | Rafael Behr
Turning points in world affairs form flashbulb memories, vivid snapshots of the scene when we heard the news: declarations of war; assassinations; natural disasters. They form the album of shared memories that defines each generation.
On the November morning in 1990 when Margaret Thatcher resigned, I was at school. I can picture the very classroom. The teacher took the unprecedented step of wheeling in a TV so we could watch the Iron Lady’s momentous departure from Downing Street. I had no notion of what it was like to have a different prime minister. French friends say it was the same for them when François Mitterrand stood down in 1995, after 14 years in the ElysĂ©e palace. It took a while to get used to hearing the words “monsieur le president” in reference to a different face.

Democrats hope Latino voters will help them win. Don't count on it | Ruy Teixeira
Hispanic voters are not a magic elixir for the Democratic party. They need to be inspired to get to the polls first
Many people assume that Latinos will play a pivotal role in an expected wave of Democratic victories this fall, especially given Donald Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric toward Latino immigrants. But all is not as it seems.
Latinos are now America’s largest minority group, surpassing black people as a percentage of the population, and they tend to vote Democratic, at a rate of about 2:1. While they will certainly be helpful to the Democrats in this election, several factors mean they may not play as big a role as many Democrats hope.

Brazil’s left needs to admit its errors if it is to combat Bolsonaro | MaurĂcio Santoro
For the first time since the return of democracy in 1985, Brazilians have elected a far-right candidate as president of the republic. The former army captain, veteran congressman and authoritarian Jair Bolsonaro is Brazil’s version of a now-familiar global phenomenon: political leaders who win office by attacking liberal values, targeting minorities and channelling nostalgia for a time when the “fatherland” was great. Bolsonaro is the most radical of the new breed; he openly speaks in defence of dictatorship and torture, and the killing or banishment of his opponents. Not long ago Brazil was hailed as a rising power, with progressive governments. What happened? And what can we expect for our democracy?
It’s vital that we don’t stigmatise Bolsonaro’s supporters as crazy or stupid. Opinion polls show that most voters supported Bolsonaro because they want huge changes to Brazil’s political system, not because they agree with his more radical remarks. The rise of Bolsonaro is the result of five years of deep political and economic crisis in Brazil; the worst recession since the return of democracy; and corruption scandals embroiling the most important parties. Crime has become rampant, with more than 60,000 murders a year. Moderate leaders failed to address these key social demands, allowing Bolsonaro to present himself as a rebel and outsider railing against the establishment.

Celebrity boycotts and half-time headaches: is the Super Bowl already in crisis?
Sports and advertising’s biggest night has tried to rise above politics, but has recently been dragged into the culture wars
The Super Bowl is traditionally the biggest night for sports, entertainment and advertising in the US,but in the wake of intense politicisation of the NFL, Super Bowl LIII is shaping up to be a fierce battle, not just of sporting prowess, but in the embittered culture wars.
The event is still three months away but organisers are having trouble securing big name performers, advertisers are unsure whether or not to lean into the politics now surrounding the NFL or eschew the event entirely, and politicians are seizing upon the occasion for partisan squabbling.

Cleveland Browns fire Hue Jackson after coach records three wins in 40 games
- Team won just one game in coach’s first two seasons
- Cleveland have lost 25-straight games on the road
- Offensive coordinator Todd Haley also dismissed
Hue Jackson’s failed, flawed tenure with the Cleveland Browns is over. The team fired their embattled coach on Monday, ending a run of futility nearly unmatched in NFL history. Jackson, who went 3-36-1 in two-plus seasons, was dismissed on Monday by general manager John Dorsey, a source told the Associated Press. The news was also reported by the NFL Network and ESPN.
Jackson’s firing came on day after the Browns lost their 25th straight road game, 20 of which have occurred with Jackson in charge. The Browns, who have not made the playoffs since 2002, have lost three straight games after a promising start to this season. It’s not immediately clear who will fill in for Jackson for the rest of this season. The Browns host one of the best teams in the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs, on Sunday.

'Every vote should count': North Dakota ID law threatens Native Americans’ vote in key Senate race
On the tribal reservations, Republicans are accused of trying to suppress a potentially decisive bloc who tend to swing Democratic
As the blanket of morning fog evaporates over the outskirts of Fort Yates, a group of volunteers files inside a nondescript yellow building, decorated with signs that read: Standing Rock Will Vote. Everyone here knows the office. It has stood for decades and is owned by the reservation tribal government. But one thing about it has remained a mystery: its address.
Until recently that would hardly have mattered. Many properties, from government buildings to small homes, have no formal street address. Members of the Lakota Sioux tribe who live on Standing Rock, like the Native Americans on four other reservations in North Dakota, just know where people live. Most residents use PO Boxes to collect their mail. For years, thousands have used their PO Boxes when registering formal identification documents.

In about-face, Republicans make fixing Obamacare central to re-election push
Republicans wanted to gut Obamacare. Now, a wave of candidates advertise support for the ‘pre-existing conditions’ provision
In a House race in rural upstate New York, a congressional district containing some counties where Trump won by more than 22%, the Republican incumbent Elise Stefanik is campaigning on what would have been unthinkable five years ago: fixing Obamacare.
Stefanik is one of a wave of Republicans who, in the final weeks of the midterms election campaign, have advertised support for Obamacare’s most popular provisions. Republicans worked for the better part of a decade to repeal the law. Now, one Obamacare policy in particular has shockingly emerged as central to the right’s re-election push: protections for “pre-existing conditions”.

Little brother died, police mishandled his belongings and they are ruined. Do I have any options?
My little brother got involved with drugs and overdosed because he got a bad batch with fentanyl. He was with the drug dealer when it happened and the guy had prior charges, so instead of calling an ambulance, he took my brother's phone and left. My little brother was found the next morning by some amazing woman that took him out of the car and did CPR till the ambulance got there. I got a call that morning to come to the hospital because I was his emergency contact. I knew it was bad after the phone call but not the full extent. He was brain dead and could have been saved if the guy has just called an ambulance.
I didn't immediately start digging, I just thought he overdosed. My parents wouldn't take him off life support for 3 days(they have to make the decision, I was not allowed) and I stayed with him the whole time. In the middle of night 2, the nurse station got a phone call pretending to be me and trying to get information about my brothers condition. They gave the phone to me and he hung up and when I called back he wouldn't give me a name and was just very suspicious, I didn't let on that's how I felt but when I got off the phone all the ICU nurses agreed it the dealer trying to find out information. I did some digging and then I called the police and gave them everything I found. His car was still parked a couple houses down from the dealers house. A homicide detective called me and we made an appointment over text message to go get the car(she wanted it searched and I had an extra key, they said his key was gone).
The day of the appointment she texted me to say she had the car towed to the police station. We made another appointment a few days later where she handed me off to the narcotics detective and told me he was taking over. The narcotics detective told me he was going to search the car after our appointment, I asked if I could be there and he said no. Somehow they ended up with my brother's key after telling me they didn't have it. I had to plan the funeral so I just let the police do their thing and they told me they would let me know when I could pick up the car. My brother was in the process of moving so his car was filled to the brim with his belongings. Fast forward 2 weeks and I am told I can come pick up the car. When I was let in to the locked lot, I noticed all his cars windows were down including the sunroof. It had rained pretty steady for three weeks and the car was literally a puddle. I had the car towed to my mother's and started going through his stuff. All his belongings are ruined including the car, electronics, artwork.
The police had the key, it was in a locked lot, and they wouldn't let me get the car for weeks. The narcotics officers were just too lazy to close the windows and sunroof I guess because I don't see why they would do it on purpose. They could have let me know at anytime and I would have driven down there and closed the windows. I'm not sure where to go from here. Are the police responsible for any of this? This is in MD, if that helps.

I'm Alexey Kovalev, an investigative reporter from Russia. I'm here to answer your questions about being a journalist in Russia, election meddling, troll farms, and other fun stuff.
My name is Alexey Kovalev, I've worked as a reporter for 16 years now. I started as a novice reporter in a local daily and a decade later I was running one of the most popular news websites in Russia as a senior editor at a major news agency. Now I work for an upstart non-profit newsroom http://www.codastory.com as the managing editor of their Russian-language website http://www.codaru.com and contribute reports and op-eds as a freelancer to a variety of national Russian and international news outlets.
I also founded a website called The Noodle Remover ('to hang noodles on someone's ears' means to lie, to BS someone in Russian) where I debunk false narratives in Russian news media and run epic crowdsourced, crowdfunded investigations about corruption in Russia and other similar subjects. Here's a story about it: https://globalvoices.org/2015/11/03/one-mans-revenge-against-russian-propaganda/.
Ask me questions about press freedom in Russia (ranked 148 out of 180 by Reporters Without Borders https://rsf.org/en/ranking), what it's like working as a journalist there (it's bad, but not quite as bad as Turkey and some other places and I don't expect to be chopped up in pieces whenever I'm visiting a Russian embassy abroad), why Pravda isn't a "leading Russian newspaper" (it's not a newspaper and by no means 'leading') and generally about how Russia works.
Fun fact: I was fired by Vladimir Putin's executive order (okay, not just I: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-25309139). I've also just returned from a 9 weeks trip around the United States where I visited various American newsrooms as part of a fellowship for international media professionals, so I can talk about my impressions of the U.S. as well.

If the most interesting thing about you is your sexual orientation, you’re boring.
I don’t hate straight people. I don’t dislike gay people. I don’t mind trans people. I don’t harbor any ill-will towards any of the other ten billion variations/labels. As far as I’m concerned if what gets you off doesn’t hurt anyone else in the process then knock yourself right out.
But if you’re one of those people who have structured their entire identity around what you like to shove in your vagina/ass or what you enjoy sticking your dick into, yeah, you’re boring.
